Performance Technologies' PT-VME420A SCSI Host Adapter for SPARC-basedworkstation systems provides a gateway to the SCSI bus for applicationsthat require multiple high-performance SCSI peripherals and/or sustainedhigh-transfer SCSI protocol tasks.PT-VME420A is based on a full 32-bit architecture, utilizing a dedicated68020 MPU to supervise the SCSI host function. The PT-VME420A firmwareprovides complete conformance to the SCSI common command set to assurecompatibility with a broad range of SCSI peripherals. The host adapteralso supports single-ended or differential SCSI bus drivers, allowing forSCSI bus lengths up to 25 meters. Other features of the PT-VME420Ainclude 1 MB of onboard data sustained SCSI data rates of 5 MB persecond; onboard diagnostics, including an integral RS-232C port with"TRACE" firmware support; and full 32-bit data and address interface tothe VMEbus.
